Over the past decade, healthcare organizations have been facing exceeding pressures from changes in care delivery, legislation and funding. These pressures include technical demonstration of value, expanding regional and provincial mandates, consumerization and digital needs, third parties leveraging elements of clinical and financial information, the expansion of value-based, person centered care and continued financial pressures. Across all of these challenges, there exists one consistent means for addressing them: access to data. As we have seen with COVID-19, these pressures have been greatly exasperated, shining a light on how difficult it can be to pivot based on business needs and processes. It is time for our industry to apply what we have learned and adopt solutions that are truly agile - giving us the flexibility to deliver person centered population health (i.e. COVID-19) or integrated delivery networks across providers (i.e.. Ontario Health Teams). Irrespective of a healthcare institution's approach to IT -- buy, build or buy & build -- the key to effectiveness is better, more intelligent and accurate access to data in near real-time. This will allow healthcare organizations to gain intelligence and ultimately enable better integration capabilities amongst their systems.Problem solved! Not exactly, typical healthcare integration is about sending all data to all systems with little to no data management, insight or governance. This legacy-based approach no longer works for healthcare organizations as their needs have dramatically changed. Healthcare requires modern integration options that can drive innovation and address needs in an on-demand manner with intelligence, extensive capabilities and a focus on security and scale. The Red Hat Healthcare and Life Sciences team is helping to drive this change and has created an accelerator centered on an industry leading design pattern, IDaaS (Intelligent Data as a Service). iDaaS focuses on data as the asset, specifically addressing data needs and requirements. The intent of IDaaS is simplification, extensibility and innovation enablement. The iDaaS platform was built with a focus on supporting healthcare facilities on their digital transformation journeys by lowering the barriers between integration and application development. It helps to drive value by connecting disparate sources from across systems and platforms within an organization and turning them into an agile resource. Red Hat’s iDaaS is an innovation enabler that provides a consistent and comprehensive focus for application development, data/AI and data integration.Through using this accelerator and design pattern approach, organizations and partners are seeing a variety of benefits, including delivery of solutions for population health , patient experience and disease outbreak. Additionally, IDaaS is being used to help deliver integrated care across providers and systems for Ontario Health Teams and other integrated delivery networks. To learn how IDaaS can help transform your healthcare organization, join us for the Red Hat & MOBIA webinar, Improving Care Through Clinical Data As a Service on Wednesday, September 23rd at 7:00am PST | 10:00am EST.
