MOBIA has won the Gold award for “Top Healthcare Solution” at the inaugural Computer Reseller News’ Channel Innovation competition. MOBIA was selected from amongst many applicants by a team of independent veteran IT professionals for the creation of myCCath.myCCath is a software based referral system; co-created with Eastern Health to enable the equitable and timely access to care in the cardiac catheterization lab. The solution was designed by a team consisting of members from both MOBIA and Eastern Health. The key to this collaboration was combining MOBIA’s expertise in process design and software development, with the clinical and administrative expertise of the Eastern Health team. The challenge is to ensure patients being referred to the central cath lab (located in St. John’s) from across Newfoundland & Labrador are visible at all times to referring physicians, nurses, administrative intake and cardiology specialists; and that their care is provided based on the acuity of their case. myCCath achieves these goals and is the first step towards intelligent scheduling; allowing patients to view and input to their scheduled procedure.The resulting solution also relied on extensive support and collaboration from the Newfoundland/Labrador Centre for Health Information, Central Health and Western Health to ensure smooth provincial rollout.Both MOBIA and Eastern Health believe this is a great example of collaboration between government and private industry. The resulting partnership will create revenue for the province and the creation of new IT based jobs in the healthcare sector.Special thanks to Dr Sean Connors, Ron Johnson and Valerie Johnson for their incredible support, dedication and energy in helping bring this to fruition.
